Atrial flutter definition?
Atrial flutter is an abnormality in the beating of the heart. Such abnormalities, whether in rhythm of heartbeat or speed of heartbeat, are known as arrhythmias. Atrial flutter is a rhythm disturbance of the atria that results in regular tachycardic ventricular waveforms. Atrial rates in atrial flutter are generally 240-400 beats per minute. It usually involves a rapid heart rate, in which the upper heart chambers (atria) are stimulated to contract in a very disorganized and abnormal manner.
