Gastritis Symptom - What are the sign & symptom of Gastritis

What are the commom symptoms of Gastritis ?

  • The main symptoms of gastritis are loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, headache and dizziness.
  • There is also pain and a feeling of discomfort in the region of the stomach.
  • In more chronic cases, there is a feeling of fullness in the abdomen, especially after meals.
  • The patient complains of heartburn. Prolonged illness often results in the loss of weight, anaemia and occassional haemorrhage from the stomach.
  • There may be an outpouring of mucus and a reduction in the secretion of hydrochloric acid during acute attacks and also in most cases of chronic gastritis.

Other Rare Symptom of Gastritis

A variety of conditions can give rise to Gastritis. The following represent the most common Symptom of Gastritis:

  1. Pallor, sweating, and rapid (or "racing") heart beat.
  2. Feeling faint or short of breath
  3. Chest pain or severe stomach pain
  4. Vomiting large amounts of blood
  5. Bloody bowel movements or dark, sticky, very foul-smelling bowel movements

Symptoms of Gastritis

  1. Belching Symptoms of Gastritis : Belching usually either does not relieve the pain or relieves it only briefly.
  2. Nausea and vomiting Symptoms of Gastritis: The vomit may be clear, green or yellow, blood-streaked, or completely bloody, depending on the severity of the stomach inflammation.
  3. The stomach lining can be examined with an endoscope, a thin probe with a tiny camera on the end that can be inserted into the stomach.
  4. Severe gastritis may be present when the stomach is viewed without symptoms being present.
  5. Severe gastritis symptoms may be present despite only minor changes in the stomach lining.
  6. Elderly people in particular have a much higher likelihood of developing painless stomach damage. They may have no symptoms at all (no nausea, vomiting, pain) until they are suddenly taken ill with internal bleeding.
