Planning For Well-Being - Article on Planning For Well-Being
Broad health hints have been laid
down for the Executive with the sole purpose of evolving,
healthy lifestyle, which may make their lives happy anc
prosperous. The Executives are wise and xperienced people
who by the dint of their hard work, and ability have risen to
high positions in life. The world has become highly mechanised,
and the society is fast drifting to materialism. In the
computerised age, it seems necessary that in the social pr6cess,
the men might not become a part of machine. While keeping
control over the complicated technological advancement, the
human virtues of hope, faith, human kindness, compassion and
courage should form part of personal life. Religious faith and
humanised values can lead to happiness and well being, without
which human beings lose charm of existence. For planning well
being, one will have to guard against gross materialism and
overmechanised state of society.
The first requisite for a happy life is a good and healthy physique.
Without a healthy body, the happiness becomes a dream. The
first step for wellbeing is to keep the body fit and trim. To
repeat, we are what we eat. We should have a varied diet rich
in starch and fibry food, and low in fat. Eat more starch-rich
and fibre-rich foods, plenty of fruit and vegetables, less sugar
and salt, and go easy on alcohol (if it cannot be totally
eliminated). Vegetarian diet is natural for human beings.
The next step is proper evacuation of waste from the body. It is
to be understood that without proper cleaning of internal
human machinery, foreign matters remain accumulated in the
body, which becomes a cause for various diseases in the long
. run. Timely cleaning of the internal machinery is essential for
health and alertness. Periodic abstinence from food is very
helpful in keeping the internal machinery trim and energetic.
Drinking a glass of filtered water as first thing in the morning on rising helps the cleaning process. Bathing in cold water with
minimum use of soap and other cleaning objects is very
invigorating. However, before bath, whole body should be
rubbed briskly with the palm of the hand or with the help of a
small rough towel.
This process cleans the pores of the skin
giving the cooling effect of water while bathing. Drinking
sufficient pure water during the day keeps the body free from
toxins produced by harmful food articles.
Another factor for keeping fit is regular simple exercise, deep
breathing and meditation in the open air. For this purpose ten
or fifteen minutes would be sufficient. Even during the day,
neck exercise can be done off and on for a few seconds or
relaxation for a minute or so with closed eyes, if any strain
during working is experienced. Lastly, good sleep in an airy
and well ventilated room is a pre-requisite for good health.
