Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy
What is Hypertrophic Osteoarthropathy
Historically, clubbing was first recorded circa 400 BC by Hippocrates. Hypertrophic osteoarthropathy is characterized by (a) clubbing of fingers and toes, (b) periostitis with new subperiosteal bone formation of long bones, and (c) arthritis. Synonyms have included familial idiopathic hypertrophic osteoarthropathy, Marie-Bamberger syndrome, osteoarthropathic hypertrophiante and pneumique, and secondary hypertrophic osteoarthropathy.
