Male Impotence

Here are the facts, 1 out of every 10 men in the world suffers from erectile dysfunction, in the U.S. 30 million are considered to have this problem. Male impotence is a disease on the rise, especially because of the growing numbers of baby boomers retiring. The causes are many, according to recent studies, the most popular reasons include vascular diseases, blood pressure, diabetes, psychological issues, and unhealthy habits such as smoking. Actually, smokers have 50% more chance of becoming impotent than men of the same age.

Erectile dysfunction may also come as a result from taking other medicine, or abusing from alcohol and other drugs. Men who are unable to please their partners in bed face deep frustration, lack of confidence, low self esteem, amongst other problems. The fact is, this problem exists, and affects not only men, but their partners too. Physical intimacy, although it is not the most important factor, is a major component when it comes to having a healthy relationship. Furthermore, more and more men are realizing that this is a treatable disease, and they are seeking help. Fortunately, the solutions are many, and can suit various needs.

In the last 10 years, various pharmaceutical corporations have developed a wide range of products as erectile dysfunction treatments .The most common are oral medications, Phosphodiesterase Type 5 (PDE5) Inhibitors, known with commercial names such as Viagra, Levitra, and Cialis work as erection enhancers, they do not have an immediate effect, but go in effect once a man has reached sufficient stimulation, limiting its effects. Although they have had a successful response from the public, pills always have a number of side effects, restrictions, and cannot be taken with other drugs.

Other, more radical solutions include undergoing surgery, or using intra-urethral suppositories. The first option suggests implanting a mechanical device on a man’s member to provide rigidity. A popular device is an inflatable implant that works by squeezing a pump into the scrotum. The second option, although requires no surgical processes, it’s a bit more uncomfortable, since it consists on inserting an ultrathin applicator that releases medication in the form of pellets through the urethra.

Finally, a more widely accepted procedure, free from pills or surgeries, is using a vacuum pump. This simple device provides rigidity and strength just before intercourse, and can last up to 30 minutes without any side effects. The system works by inserting the penis into a plastic tube, then a pump activates and allows for blood to run through effectively. A tension ring prevents blood from leaking back to the body.

Eventually, an ED solution should be safe and provide the solution every man is seeking. Some medications might be more suitable than others, depending on specific conditions. The bottom line is that there are solutions, and men willing to get back their sexual intimacy with their partner should definitely consider utilizing any of these options.
